Science Fest 2026: 3D Model Exhibition

Science Fest 2026: 3D Model Exhibition

The Institute of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics (MMG), University of the Punjab, hosted Science Fest 2026 on February 18, 2026. Coordinated by Dr. Hera Naheed Khan, the exhibition challenged undergraduate students to translate complex concepts in soil and agricultural microbiology into creative 3D models.
A total of 14 models were presented, covering themes on: rhizosphere interactions, biogeochemical cycles, and environmental microbiology. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Anjum Nasim Sabri (Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences) and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Faisal (Director, MMG), who appreciated the initiative and encouraged the inclusion of such co-curricular academic activities to enhance students’ conceptual clarity and engagement.
Evaluated by Prof. Dr. Nazia Jamil and Prof. Dr. Rida Batool, who commended the students for their dedication & teamwork. The evaluators expressed their appreciation for the innovative approaches used to present complex microbiological processes in visually engaging formats.
The top honors were awarded to:
1st Prize: PGPRs (Group 6, Morning) & Urban Soil and Biodiversity (Group 3, Evening)
2nd Prize: Microtopia (Group 4, Morning) & The Rhizosphere (Group 2, Evening)
3rd Prize: Bioremediation (Group 2, Morning) & Carbon Cycle (Group 8, Evening)
The fest concluded with certificate distributions, successfully fostering scientific curiosity and collaborative learning. This event reaffirmed MMG’s commitment to integrating theoretical knowledge with innovative, practical representation.
